Dave’s Story

David Rosa grew up in the city of Long Beach and from an early age knew he wanted to work for his dream department, Long Beach FD.
He felt he was blessed to begin working for them as a firefighter/paramedic on March 5, 2001.
He was promoted to the rank of Fire Captain in 2011. Dave was assigned to various stations throughout the city and recently spent a few years as a Training Captain teaching new recruits.
He received numerous commendations during his career and was well loved and respected by his peers.
His career of 17 years was cut short tragically when he was shot and killed responding to a structure fire protecting the residents of Long Beach on June 25, 2018.

Dave lived in San Juan Capistrano with his wife Lynley and their two sons, Alec and Sam. He was a dedicated family man, a man of faith and an outstanding role model for his boys as well as many other young men in his community.
He served in their local Little League for many years later becoming President of SJCLL. He most recently enjoyed his off time umpiring with the Orange County Baseball Officials Association.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his boys in their respective sports through the years, vacationing, Dodger games, surfing with Sam, tinkering with his 1964 Ford F100 and hanging with their group of close friends.

Dave was an epic story teller possessing a big sense of humor, an even bigger laugh, integrity, and a heart full of love for those in his life personally and professionally.
He is missed dearly by us all and the family would like to thank each of you who continue to honor his legacy and memory by your love and support each day and especially on the anniversary of his passing, June 25.
